Tasting notes
50&50 has a deep, dark ruby colour. Tremendous structure and depth, with firm, yet silky tannins and elegant red fruit, such a raspberries and red currant. The bouquet features chassis, hints of cigarcase, Tuscan herbs, leather and vanilla spices. The finish is long, sensuous and unforgettable.
"The 2006 50 & 50, a partnership between Avignonesi and Capanelle, is a hugely boring wine loaded with sweet dark red fruit, copious French oak and a plush personality. As I commented in the Capannelle section, I can't possibly believe these two world-class wineries are putting their best lots into this blend. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024." - Antonio Galloni (196, The Wine Advocate)
