72% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc

"With delicate, cashmere tannins, the wine is lavish, opulent, fresh and loaded with ripe black fruits, licorice, smoke, plums, minerals, flowers and cherries. The wine balances perfectly with elegance and a wealth of sensuous fruits. There is length, which is what the doctor ordered as you want to enjoy as much of this for as long as possible. The wine blends 72% Merlot and 28% Cabernet Franc, 14% alcohol. Picking took place September 7 to October 9, making 2018 the longest harvest in the history of the property." - Jeff Leve

"A blend of 72% Merlot and 28% Cabernet Franc, the 2018 Canon has a pH of 3.69 and 14% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple in color, it tumbles effortlessly out of the glass with a gorgeous perfume of candied violets, preserved plums, black cherry compote and Ceylon tea with hints of kirsch, powdered cinnamon, chocolate box and fertile loam. The medium to full-bodied palate is packed with juicy black fruit layers, supported by plush, oh-so-soft tannins and well-knit freshness, finishing long and fragrant." - Robert Parkers Wine Advocate

- Vinum Wine Magazine

"This estate owned by the Chanel luxury group continues its winning streak with this latest release. Dark and firm at this stage but with obviously powerful, rich black fruits, the wine is destined for a long aging. Tannins and structure pour through dense blackberry and damson flavors, leaving room for a succulent aftertaste. Drink from 2026." - Wine Enthusiast

"Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. - Falstaff

"The nose is fruity, elegant, racy and offers a beautiful finesse of the grain, beautifully complex as well as a fine intensity. It reveals notes of ripe blackberry, ripe cassis and small notes of ripe strawberry associated with fine touches of violet, pulpy/juicy raspberry, juicy/pulpy blueberry, hints of chocolate, lilac/cornflower, caramelized oak as well as a discreet hint of iris, nutmeg, zan, very discreet hints of spices, a very discreet hint of vanilla and a subtle hint of hazelnut. This wine is multi layers and requiers patience and work in the glass to be entirely liked and understood. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, racy and offers a beautiful acidulous/juicy frame, a beautiful minerality, freshness, tension, a very beautiful finesse of the grain, density/richness as well as a beautiful definition. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy/juicy/acidulous cassis, juicy/acidulous blackbery and small notes of acidulous/crunchy small red berries associated with fine touches of fresh flowers, nutmeg, toasted hazelnut and toasted almond. Tannins are elegant and offer a very fine chews. There is a subtle hint of hazelnut, vanilla, dark chocolate and an imperceptible hint of coffee on the finish/persistence. Very fine sapidity, almost saline minerality and a fine chew on the finish which bring gourmandize/appetence." - VertdeVin

"Pretty closed up right now, this is full of latent energy. It´s extremely powerful and precise, with poise and tension but also with generosity and density, yet it errs on the side of not giving much away rather than giving too much. You have to give it time in the glass for those cool blueberry, bilberry and tightly spiced notes to come to the fore. The stunning texture is clear but the aromatics take their time. This is a wine that carries its finesse with great skill, and they have done a brilliant job of allowing this aspect to shine amongst the heat of the vintage, allowing the density to inch deeper with every minute in the glass. This wine just gets better and better, Harvest ran from 7 September to 9 October, the longest ever here, with no pressure of rot." - Jane Anson
