"Almond and hazelnut, peach and vanilla arise from the glass of von Hovel 2008 Scharzhofberger Riesling Spatlese, anticipating just the sort of lush richness and creaminess (accompanied by subtle oiliness) that one encounters in the mouth. Remarkably the overall palate impression here is hardly very sweet despite its analytically high residual sugar, and the sense of delicacy as well as transparency to saline, stony, and floral nuances in the finish are admirable. This understated beauty should be worth following for a decade or more, not that one should feel the slightest hesitation about drinking it now." - David Schildknecht (187, The Wine Advocate)
