Farbe: Dunkles Pflaumenrot
"Bin 2 was first released in 1960, yet was discontinued in Australia in the 1970s at the height of the white wine boom. The original Bin 2 was an 'Australian Burgundy' style (despite its Rhône varieties) – typically a soft, medium-bodied wine based on Shiraz. They are planning to go back to using the name Mataro, as the growers do. 89% Shiraz, 11% Mourvèdre, from the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and Padthaway. TA 6.2 g/l, pH 3.64. 10 months in seasoned French and American oak. Rich, dark crimson. Very ripe, almost a little raisined although this seemed to have blown off to some extent when I went back to it. There's a tobacco leaf, savoury note too. Pruney aroma. On the palate, firmly in the prune camp. Very ripe and so gentle. Soft tannins. Velvety sweetness. Too sweet-fruited for my taste, fruit sweetness jarring a bit with the acidity." - Julia Harding MW (Jancis Robinson)
